Menu Week Starting 8th September 7 September, 2008
The menu for the first week of September went okay… We had two English girls staying with us till early in the week, then we had an 11 year old boy come for the rest of the week. We’ve had extra rehearsals, my yoga class and other interruptions to the tea-time hour as well.
So, the pasta with broccoli sauce was delicious! The frittata was replaced by an antipasto platter. The slow cooker potato bake was yummy, as was the garden-fresh stirfry. The new pizza base recipe moved from Friday to Saturday and was a winner. And tonight’s pasta was great. The chickpea recipe and frittata have been moved to this week. I hope to add all new recipes to the blog during the week.
I baked 7 cakes on Thursday - some banana/sultana cakes, date/goji loaves and some coconut loaves. Some for friends, some for the freezer and some for snacks. I never got to the cookies, but might make them this week for the kids’ days out.
We haven’t had many more mushrooms from the kit, but there’s signs that more will come. Maybe I let the kit dry out a bit in the warmer weather this week? From the garden we have spinach, sugarloaf cabbages, beans, asian greens, kohl rabi, lettuce, cherry tomatoes and loads of herbs. We have been getting about 18 eggs a day from the hens, so more than enough for us (and guests)!
From a roadside stall we have a sack of potatoes. From friends we have bananas.
From the Organics Network we have zucchini, squash, capsicum, brussel sprouts, cobs of corn, sweet potatoes, cucumbers and lots of fruit. As well we’ve stocked up all the pantry items we buy from them, and a few new items to try. For next week, I’ve ordered from co-op.
To continue the challenge, I’ll be trying more new recipes this week.

Looks good! I’m joining in your challenge too but I won’t get to 20 (esp since I missed a week!)
