Menu Week Starting 29th September 28 September, 2008
Last week, the menu went to plan except for Pumpkin Soup, which was moved to this week due to having a BBQ. Oh, we also had too much fish for the BBQ so quiche was canceled. I’ll probably make some Zucchini Slices for lunch this week (and the freezer) instead.
Last week, the patties and curry were delicious. We made the banana cakes and some date loaves, but didn’t do the mango slice. We did make some cheesecakes for the BBQ though.
From the markets we have pineapples, rockmelons. lettuce, tomatoes and more. Had to buy some fruit and veg from the supermarket as our co-op was canceled, but will be on track next week.
From the garden we still have beans, broad beans, a little broccoli, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, kohl rabi, sugarloaf cabbages, herbs, passionfruit, silverbeet, celery and herbs. Last week my Mum made a Rhubarb Crumble with rhubarb from the garden - mmmmmmmmm.
Many of the hens are still broody, but we still have more than enough eggs (and 20 baby chickens now!)
In the final days of the challenge I’ll try to make it close to my goal of 20 new recipes for September…
Monday: Bean Patties with Aioli (based on this recipe) with salad
Tuesday: Pumpkin Soup, bread, Impossible Pie (from Simple Savings)
Wednesday: Mushroom Potato Bake (in slow cooker), boiled eggs, salad
Thursday: Lentil balls, mashed potatoes, steamed vegies, gravy
Friday: Pasta Bake (in slow cooker) and salad
Saturday: Vegetable casserole with cheese & herb dumplings
Sunday: Mushroom Risotto & vegetables
Baking & Prep: Honey Oat Cookies (third try?)
