Menu Week Starting 28th July 27 July, 2008

Filed under: Menu Plans — Bel @ 9:26 pm

Well, 5 out of 7 meals went to plan last week. We went out to our friends’ one night for BBQ fish (we took baby potatoes, coleslaw, wine, beer and a cake), and another I just couldn’t be bothered and didn’t feel like anything we had in the house… so we had take-away hot chips. We’d had a decent lunch, so chips were fine! So I’ve moved those two meals ahead to this week.

From the garden we still have some lettuce (they stopped growing during recent cool and rainy weather) and lots of cooking greens, pumpkins, herbs, lots of eggs and the last of the macadamia harvest. From the forest I found the last yellow guava to ripen for their season today. I wonder what our next wild food discovery will be…

I did no market or bulk shopping this past week. I simply stocked up on a few supplies from the supermarket and we have everything else we need. Due to the truck strikes planned for Sunday 27th onwards, we thought it best to have a good supply of our everyday needs.

Monday: falafel and salad wraps, dessert (fruit yoghurt)

Tuesday: roast veg, steamed greens, cauliflower, white sauce

Wednesday: pumpkin & lentil soup (but with red lentils and NO corriander - ick!), mountain bread chips, dessert

Thursday: linguini & tomato & mushroom sauce with parmesan

Friday: mountain bread quiche & basic salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, herbs, baby spinach leaves, red onion, celery, carrot)

Saturday: vegie shepherd’s pie, steamed vegetables (carrot, greens)

Sunday: quesadillas, bean salad, lettuce, tomato, boiled eggs, dessert (yoghurt & fruit)

Baking & Prep: bread (Wed), dessert (Wed - something like dumplings and custard), coconut cake and a few other new easy recipes from Simple Savings, will update with the results!

We always leave out the coriander too. I feel like I don’t like the things planned sometimes too.

A bit late for comments but I wanted to say that I enjoyed looking at your menu, as a fellow vegie, Aussie and Simple Saver!
