Menu Week Starting 27th October 26 October, 2008

Filed under: Menu Plans — Bel @ 6:07 pm

Everything went to plan last week except our ‘leftover’ night became a ‘take-away’ night because we were home so late and tired from a big afternoon out and about. It was our first night with ‘just us’ after our Dutch WWOOFers left, so we just had a few hot chips…

Our WWOOFers Marije and Kaitlin made some banana cakes during the week - yum! We’ve been blessed with a surplus of bananas from friends. We will be baking more this week, I think, including some for the freezer.

The garden is going about the same as last week, and we’ve enjoyed salads and vegetables from it several times recently.

The children are still snacking on their bush tucker discoveries, and Immi’s freezing some Millaa vine fruit in the hope of making some jelly from it when she has enough.

We’re still enjoying the leftover fruit and veg from last week’s buys, so a bit of a use-it-up week this week, with no time to get to the vegetable market and no co-op happening apart from apples.

Monday: freezer curry, rice, steamed broccoli on the side

Tuesday: skin-on potatoes, boiled eggs, salads

Wednesday: stir-fry & rice (using mostly veg from the garden!)

Thursday: leftovers, eggs, beans on toast etc

Friday: Crash Hot Potatoes, bean salad, green salad

Saturday: mixed platter & mountain bread for wraps

Sunday: various roasted vegetables, steamed greens, gravy or white sauce

Baking & Prep: snacks and lunches for the Dad, banana cakes and muffins

Hey there, just wanted to let you know how much I love to read your blog. I had a bunch of people over last Friday and last minute - I mean last minute, tried your recipe for Coconut Loaf. I doubled it and used agave instead of sugar and it was a winner! Everyone loved it. I have it on my meal plan post this week with a link to yours. Thanks again!
