Well, July disappeared just as quickly as the months before it! I was unwell for a lot of the month, though better than the previous month. By taking an iron supplement and taking it easy, I am slowly getting over the virus…

AT HOME: Just one family birthday in July, plus some friends to congratulate. We did take two trips up to Watsonville, though. Once we all went for a few nights, and the second time it was just the two of us for the night. It wasn’t as cold as I expected! The *BIG* NEWS is that we hope to move up that way soon and have placed our home on the market. So we’ve been madly decluttering, cleaning and gardening to get it all ready to sell.

AT WORK: The proof for my next section of Education Choices looks fantastic. Looking forward to holding the print copy in my hands this month.

I’ve been proof-reading and editing a homeschooling book to be published by Always Learning Books soon. It’s nice to have a little work trickle in and I’m coming to really enjoy editing now. I’ve also been invited to write a chapter for another book, will tell you more once I put pen to paper…

We closed the eBay Store for seeds and advertised in a couple of online communities. The response was great and so during the last week we’ve had some great sales for Spring planting! Seeds can still be purchased directly via email and current stock is listed on the seeds page.

IN THE GARDEN: The hens are laying very well, and are always ravenous. I am trying to weed somewhere around the yards every day or two and throw them at least a bucketful or three of fresh green growth. They’re not free-ranging right now due to their destruction of the gardens and those of our neighbours. We’re still harvesting the same stuff as we were in July News. The Grumichama tree is full of blossoms, though, so that’s always exciting. They taste so much like cherries! We also have a couple of pineapples coming along. I planted so many earlier in the year. It is such a blessing to be able to harvest food from our own garden, even when I neglect them for a week or so!

HOME ED.: We kept to the basics for part of the month due to going away and all the busy-ness of getting ready to sell. There’s always something interesting going on, though, and so even a ’slack’ day is so full of learning it’s amazing. We’re spending a little time with a lovely local homeschooling family and have had visits from a couple of other families as well. It’s great to share ideas and relax together while the children play in this fabulous (long-awaited) sunshine!

Current favourite ’school’ activities are: Story of the World Volume 2, letter-writing, drama (performing skits of their own and a little Shakespeare too), recording music, the pet mice and going to gymnastics, netball, drama, the library and visiting. This weather is fantastic for getting out and about.
