8 Things Meme 21 June, 2007
I’ve never played a blog game before, but I’ve noticed this one on other peoples’ blogs and found the insights fascinating. I am almost certain I can’t come up with 8 fascinating facts about me, but I’ll still play the game…
I was tagged by Arun.
Each player lists 8 facts/habits about themselves. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning before those facts/habits are listed. At the end of the post, the player then tags 8 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
1. I homeschool my kids despite enjoying most of my seventeen years of full-time institutional education.
2. The first garden I remember growing was on a window-ledge of our flat in Waterloo, Sydney. Though we perhaps planted flowers at Bondi before then? I have grown a variety of things at every single home I’ve lived in since. My current backyard is 42 acres - good things come to those who wait.
3. When I first met my partner (we both had other partners at the time) I didn’t like him much at all. We’ve been together 15 years now.
4. I breastfed for 117 months. Including whilst pregnant and tandem feeding.
5. I enjoyed/endured 58 months of pregnancy - thankfully not consecutively.
6. My absolute favourite food is roasted pumpkin.
7. I am totally blown away by my maternal parentage, and am blessed to know the names of eight generations of mothers of my mothers. This spans over 150 years and all of them except me were born in the Isle of Man, to my knowledge. Whilst learning to chop wood for our heater, grind flour for our baking and many other things I tackle these days I keep my many grandmothers in my mind and feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude and awe…
8. I’m really non-competitive. I never liked to win as a child. When I play Scrabble and Chess I feel guilty if I’m winning, because I don’t desire to win and my opponent/s do. Winning is wasted on me! I don’t mind winning a raffle or game of chance, though. I remember one English teacher in high school trying to get me excited about receiving the Honour Award (again) and me trying to convince her that it really meant little to me…
THE END
Ah, now to find 8 people to tag… In alphabetical order -
