November 2008 News 31 October, 2008
I feel as though we’re flying toward the end of another year…
Everything went to plan last week except our ‘leftover’ night became a ‘take-away’ night because we were home so late and tired from a big afternoon out and about. It was our first night with ‘just us’ after our Dutch WWOOFers left, so we just had a few hot chips…
A Spiral Garden special I just have to share!

Meal times went surprisingly well last week, considering we had to contend with holiday-mode, some busy days, late afternoons outdoors and ten people in the house!
Next weekend our family will be enjoying full days and nights at Yungaburra Folk Festival, which is under half an hour from our place. We’ve been to several festivals before, but this year we’re performing, volunteering and otherwise very involved.
Today I finally accepted Rhonda’s invitation to take part in the Simple, Green, Frugal Co-op blog. I’ve committed to one post per fortnight, and since I work well with deadlines this should get me in the habit of more prolific writing!
Rhonda describes the new blog as, “a co-operative of writers who have similar values to mine and who are working towards a simple, green and frugal future.” Stay tuned…
Last week’s menu went really well. Everything went really well except the baking. Instead of what we’d planned, Immi made two cakes and Abby made carob balls. I’m glad we’re not eating camping food every day…
Last week, the menu was a little mixed up. The lentil balls became lentil patties as I was in a rush. The potato bake became skin-on potatoes (freshly harvested - wow) and vegetables with creamy mushroom sauce. The pasta bake became straight pasta. The vegetable casserole was swapped for take-away and pushed forward to this week. Overall, nothing was wasted and we ate well.
It seems to be time to start shopping and creating for Christmas. The wish lists have been compiled here and so the research and bargain-hunting begins. Some gifts I hope to delegate to the grandparents, so that they can purchase wished-for items rather than the latest plastic fad item from a department store. Other items we’ll buy for the children, and some wishes won’t be fulfilled or might be pushed forward to 2009’s birthday wish list…
