Well, we’re now living very close to where we were staying during Cyclone Larry in 2006. This gives us a chance to notice the less major damage and effects on people in the region.
Around the time of the anniversary of this cyclone, the media enthusiastically reported what a great recovery the region has made and how few homes were still awaiting repairs. No mention of the homes not able to be repaired, or the businesses and farms still broken and battling. The General Peter Cosgrove may have left, but the recovery is ongoing.
For the latest update see this pdf file (you will need a pdf reader such as Adobe Acrobat): Operation Recovery Update - Issue 40 - March 2007.
